‘Jindelara Cottage’ and the people who are making it happen

The Lions Ulladulla District Community Foundation Inc.

The need for local respite care in Ulladulla and districts is critical and urgent.
Those families with disabled family member(s) are faced with a constant and a lifetime struggle to maintain the care that others can  take for granted. We have our share of these families in our community. Without relief parents, siblings and the disabled all suffer. Also, the community suffers too, from lost productivity to increased medical costs. Respite care provides some “normal” time for families who care full time for someone with a disability. It is in desperately short supply on the South Coast.

The Jindelara Cottage project
Will construct a purpose built disability respite cottage to meet the urgent needs of the Milton-Ulladulla Community. For this a site on the Princes Highway, Ulladulla, has already been purchased and work has commenced with construction being undertaken by Hotondo Homes Ulladulla.

Jindelara Services Incorporated
“Jindelara” is a local, not for profit, voluntary organisation dedicated to ensuring that the welfare of people with a disability are properly catered for within the local community. The organisation was formed in 2004 by parents, friends, teachers and carers of young people with a disability.
Jindelara Service Inc. will manage and administer the services for the respite cottage and also has plans to manage full time accommodation for the disabled.

Lions – Ulladulla District Community Foundation Inc. (LUDCF)
The LUDCF is a initiative of the Lions Club of Ulladulla-Milton and is a voluntary organisation administered by a committee drawn from local service clubs (Apex Lions and Rotary). It may also co-opt “persons of good standing” from the community.
The LUDCF objective is to provide assistance to individuals and groups representing people with disabilities within the Milton Ulladulla Community.
The initial project of the Foundation is to build the “Jindelara Cottage”.
However subsequent projects will be to provide permanent accommodation for the many individuals with varying degrees of disability who require assisted living.
The LUDCF is a true community organisation that exists to serve the people of Ulladulla and the surrounding districts. It is a registered charity and donations made  to the LUDCF are fully tax deductible.

Lions Clubs International Foundation
LCIF is the humanitarian arm of Lions Clubs International. It develops and/or supports humanitarian programs worldwide. The LUDCF is grateful for the substantial financial grant provided by LCIF to assist with the “Jindelara Cottage” project.
