More than 40 musicians from the Australian Military Band will take to the stage at the Dunn Lewis Centre later this month as the Rotary Club of Milton-Ulladulla hosts a special fundraising concert to support local community projects.
The event, to be held on Saturday 30 May, promises an evening of big band music, jazz, rock, classical pieces, military tunes and crowd favourites, all while raising funds to support local community initiatives across the South Shoalhaven.
Also known as the RMC Band or Duntroon Band, the Canberra-based ensemble is best known for its ceremonial work supporting government agencies, Defence organisations and the Royal Military College, Duntroon. But beyond official duties, the band regularly tours regional communities, bringing live music and connection to audiences around Australia.
For Ulladulla, the concert offers more than entertainment.
Rotary Club President Geoff Johns said the evening is an opportunity for the community to come together, celebrate local connections and support causes that continue to strengthen the region.
“Events like this create opportunities for people to gather, connect and contribute back to the community,” he said.
Guests are invited to arrive from 5:30pm for canapés and socialising before the concert begins at 7pm.
The evening will honour the legacy of the late Michael van Ewijk, a former Ulladulla High School teacher remembered for both his contribution to Rotary’s Eyes for Africa Project and his striking photography of the local area.
In recognition of his impact on the community, Michael’s family has donated several framed photographs to be auctioned and raffled during the night.
The Rotary Club of Milton-Ulladulla has long played a role in supporting local initiatives, events and charitable projects across the region, with funds from the concert continuing that work.
Early bird tickets are available for $30 for adults and $15 for under 18s.
The concert will be held at the Dunn Lewis Centre, 141 St Vincent Street, Ulladulla.
