Shoalhaven Rising from the Ashes’ family fun day, interactive circus and carnival will be held on the Mollymook Beach, reserve- adjacent to the surf club, on Saturday April 23 from 11 am.
This event is sponsored by Rising from the Ashes Storytelling and Healing Space, Milton and the Catholic Parish and Destination NSW
All activities on the day are free of charge, which includes circus acts and music, merry-go-round, obstacle course and other children’s entertainment from 11 am to 5pm.
A variety of light lunch food and drinks including popcorn, fairy floss and donuts will be available to purchase, as well as items from other stalls of interest.
The event is being staged, purely to bring some joy to the families of our community and beyond, who’s lives have been disrupted by a myriad of circumstances, including fires, floods, and COVID-19.
The Rising from the Ashes, Story Telling and Healing Space is into it’s second year of operation and was originally set up by the Milton Catholic Parish, which covers Sussex Inlet andUlladulla, to cater for people who were affected by the Black Summer Fires.
The group’s first event was a Family Fun Day at the Ulladulla Civic Centre on February 29 2020 to help businesses and families in the community, immediately after the fires.
The Story Telling and Healing Space was officially opened in Milton in November 2020.
This initiative caters for people of all walks of life, who are suffering any kind of trauma.
Art based workshops are offered at the Catholic Church Hall next to Vinnies and other sites, where all are welcome to join in the various scheduled activities.
The group would also like to hear from local people, who would like to offer their services to host a workshop in any art form or holistic endeavour for all age groups from the very young to older members of the community.
They thank those who have contributed to our Storytelling Space by conducting workshops from inauguration to date.
There will be a wide range of home- made jams and condiments as well as craft items, all made by our volunteers, on sale at the circus and carnival event.
In October 2021 the Jams, Condiments and Giftware Stall [above] was also established, at the Budawang Bazaar, upstairs in the Settlement Courtyard in the heart of Milton, as another outreach initiative for the community.
With such a wide range of home- made jams, condiments and craft items, this is the place to go for taste and value, while at the same time supporting our Rising from the Ashes outreach initiatives.
If anyone would like to offer their services as a volunteer for our Rising from the Ashes initiatives, including the Budawang Bazaar, we would appreciate you making contact with us.
